The School Council is made up of different children from Year 2 to Year 6. It is a representative group of students who have been elected by their peers.  It meets to discuss ways in which every day life and routines in school could be improved. It is the children’s voice on the decisions which affect their school lives and the development of the school. 
 

The School council will organise events throughout the year to raise money in the three key areas of our charitable vision: Global, National and Local.

The Collective Worship Team take responsibility for supporting the Collective Worship in the school through organising the hall and music, lighting the candles and choosing the prayers. They will also support with role play and being an example to other children. 

The collective worship team has the opportunity to help plan a weekly assembly which is based on the theme of the week and the Christian Value focus

Play Leaders are a group caring children who have been trained to organise activities for other children on the playground. They encourage children to join in games and to extend their friendships. The leadership skills that they have been taught will also help to raise self-esteem, self -confidence and encourage physical activity.

Assembly team members support the adult leading assembly. This includes setting the all up, controlling all IT equipment and taking an active part in the assembly. This team will work closely with the Collective Worship team.

The Office team man the school office at lunchtime. This team will assist the office staff by completing a list of jobs, greeting guests and supporting children who come to the office. They are supervised by Mrs Ward and Mrs Mattock. 

The Library team is responsible for the upkeep and management of the school library. They will ensure it is tidy, support other students to access the books and provide suggestions to teachers of what they believe it requires. The Library team will often run reading competition, have an input into reading displays and suggest ways in which the Library can be improved.  

Our Eco leaders take responsibility of small groups each week to complete an Eco task.  They train the other members of the club. They work alongside their team leader to evaluate and make improvements to our school with the aim of being more Eco friendly. The council will often plan activities, challenges and various events to promote their work to the school community. They work closely with Little Dippers and are currently working towards achieving the Green Flag award.

The role of Team Captains are ones of privilege, pride and responsibility. They are more than just a title and badge and require dedication and commitment for an entire year. Each House is led by two Team Captains from year 6. Pupils who wish to be considered as a Team Captain are invited to make an application to be a Team Captain and are then voted for by their peers. Team Captains need to be a good role model for their peers and be a member of the school who other pupils feel they respect, trust and talk to.

The role of the sports captain is to lead, support, inspire and represent the school in sport whilst demonstrating all the school values. The sports captains will act as role models for the whole school.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a positive role model during playtimes and lessons by promoting the SPORT values (Self Belief, Perseverance, Optimism, Resilience and Teamwork)

• Encourage pupils to participate positively to gain points for their constellation.

• Assist in running of intra-school tournaments (refereeing, set up and tidy up, looking after participants).

• Assist in running of Sports Days.

• Assist with lunch time sports clubs.

• Maintaining PE cupboard

• Various other sports related jobs throughout the year.
